Bank Holiday

We had a good Bank Holiday away at the White Horse in Uffingdon, We managed to load the car with a 9 man tent, 5 people, food, sleeping bags and duvets, camping equipment, a firepit and clothes. And then bursting at the seams we set off the 90 mile trip to Oxfordshire. Many hours later after battling through the M4 holiday/accident traffic we arrived at a huge campsite, We are talking festival huge, but not as crowded as a Fezzie.
We got the tent pitched in record time, and settled down to a brew-its amazing how the simplest thing like a cup of coffee takes on such ritual importance when camping because of the effort involved.
Friday night was boozy night we sat round the fire commenting on how clear the sky was, which made for a very cold night! Lack of decent sleep made me a grumpy bugger on sat.
I did participate in a sumble though and drank mead from a drinking horn.
Then Sunday came around, some of the party walked off to a show, but I took myself, ruby and wills up to the top of the white horse, which was in parts invigorating and disappointing. Invigorating because of the view and the air up there and disappointing because there is no clear view of the horse from up there. We had the best views of the horse from a couple of miles away coming down the lanes towards it. There was also a distinct lack of crop circles as opposed to last year.
Sunday was my Birthday so we had a huge BBQ tea and some home made cakes, yes you can bake cakes-well rice crispy cakes on a Camping stove :). it was cold and windy and kept threatening to rain so we ended up squeezing 13 people and a bonnie into the tent, cosy but warm.
All too soon it was Monday and while half the crowd packed up and left, It took us slightly longer because of the size of the tent. Moments before we left we posed for some impromptu photos which came out brilliant, funny how that happens.
All in all a fab bank holiday weekend, we made some new friends and strenghtned some existing friendships, arriving home to a flurry of facebooking Friend requests lol
