Stand by for a Epicly Awesome entry. After weeks of doing nowt its like buses everthing comes at once.
Its been half term, so last week I recive a text off SiL offering us a trip to the Theater. After a little bit of consideration I accepted, and Est bless her heart organised a trip for the family to go to Larndarrn to see The Wizard of Oz.
Tue lunchtime we set off in BiL's Discovery straight down the M4 and into London, And that was where the fun began. London traffic now seems to start at Reading services. The jostling and the nutty Audi drivers. Down the A4 following the satnav and within 20 minutes we were in the center of London. Right into the center of London, we drove past Buck House, up the Mall (Which now has traffic lights on it) and into a car park right by Trafalgar Square.
We found the hotel, right at the end of the Strand and built over Charing Cross station. And just about had time to change from our traveling clothes into out good clothe's. Jumped into a taxi and take straight across to the London Palladium, Which is on a street that exits out onto Oxford Street. By then we were starving, The first retaraunt we tried had a waiting time of a Hour, So we tried the fish place next door. No waiting.
We made it into the Palladium, which was intresting, its a lot smaller than I thought:
When I was little I remeber the Sunday Night at the London Palladuim shows, and assumed the Palladium was Staduim Sized, it isn't. Its cosy and very comfortable, a sort of faded Edwardian splendor, Red velver seats, lots of gold paint.
The show itself was fantastic, I've never been to see a show before(With the exeption of pantomines and the Rocky Horror) so seeing a proper west end production was amazing. Everthing tied together, the special effects-of which there were many, the singing, the dancing. And while the thearter may be a little bit old the stage is high tec, rotating and on hydraulics to raise and lower itself.
After the show a taxi back to Charing Cross and a treat-a trip into Maccys cos we were hungry. then off to bed. Pen tried to jump on the hotels broadband but it was chargable. So we slept in a very comfy king sized bed.
Wed morning we were up to have Breakfast-which Wills made sure we got our moneys worth. And then off to Heathrow to pick up BiL and boys, who had been in NZ watching the Rugby. BiL was chatty chatty chatty on the way home. Getting back Wed ealry afternoon for Pen to open all her B/day presents-spoilt much :)
So Thurdsay was a day for relaxing. Friday we had arranged to go to a charity fundraiser. This fundrasier was 70's themed and we were stuggling for a really wacky idea because the type of crowd that attend these events, we knew it would be wall to wall Hippys and Disco divas. We settled on the idea of Roller Skates and Spacehoppers, Simple enought for me and Chorlton. Orange T-shirt orange face paint and horns made from tinfoil and oranne paper. For the Girls the roller skates were cardboard and silver fouil creations. Remember the old roller skates that clamped around somones shoe-That was our idea.
So we get to Est House about a hour late.....Its in darkness, This is odd. Start phoning the H's all phones off/straight to Anserphone. So we phone The Bear. Yep the fundraiser is in the function room of the Bear. Off we trot back to the Bear, find the place no problems...
...Except for one small issue. No one had any money. Which is embarrasing. Espech when you have to borrow off the MiL.
So duty done at the 70's Fundraiser, Vol au Vonts and Black Forest Getaux eaten 70's themed food. we got back home for 11 to meet Shani who had arranged to meet us there....
A late night ensued and at 4am we all crawled into our respective beds.
Sat Dondra and Mike arraived to make up the bunch and we magaed a damp trip to the beach, Nothing "offial" was done on the beach we all did our own thing.
Back home again for a BBQ tea-it was too wet for a BBQ and the promised fire (e may do that tonight) and another 2am late night.
Sunday we treated Dondra and Mike to a proper Welsh breakfast and Badger eventually got her Lavabread after months and years of waiting. People started to leave lunchtime, but we fed the straglers a sunday roast. Then Chorlton left to go home.....Yeah right he did. Apparently he turned the car round at the Seven Bridge and went back to Badgers.
So a packed week for once...it will take us till Yule to recover from it.
