Apologies for a purley self indulgent post.
So yesterday we went and picked up the new car. The Nissan Quashqui 1.5d accent.
Ok so technicaly its leased, But weighing up all the pros and cons, at this point in our lives then leasing is the way to go...Especally as with a Motabiity car its insured as well.
There are some fantastic points to it:
Very comprehensive trip/fuel computer.
Steering mounted controls for phone, radio and cruise control
Ipod dock
Rear parking sensors
And some minor niggles:
No spare wheel, not even a space saver, just a pump and some expanding foam.
The floor mat in the back when you remove the spare wheel black is very weak and sags-it needs a piece of wood to give it some stability.
The smell of new engine, apparently it dosen't need a running in service, just one every 12 month/10,000 miles.
Its early days yet, And we are both pleased with it, The bootspace is larger in volume than the BMW, and of course it should be much more reliable and much more economic...I can see the point of no spare wheel if the veichle is coverd by the RAC&Quick Fit.
First impressions driving it, The steering is very light, Visibilty pretty good-though the bonnet notches are a bit distracting, I couldn't really relax on the first drive because the BMW was following me and of course it broke down! It drives like a small 4x4/van. That high up seated position. And it has all the 'toys' that the Discovery and Volvo V70 have, Automatic lights, Automatic wipers. On a long journey then it should be very comfortable.
The engine is teeny tiny compared to the straight 6 of the BMW, its a nissan/renault unit, half the componets are marked up nissan and half renalut. Its not a turbo just a direct injection diesil but it has a 6 speed gearbox. So to me its very similar to Jules's latest volvo, only without the leather heated seats and the DAB radio.
There will be tremendous temptation to drive everywhere in it at first. Something I don't want to do because:
My fitness is improving with all the walking i'm doing.
We are on a restricted mileage policy with it.
And like I say its only leased, but its another turning point for me and Pen, a New car. Onwards and upwards.
